What kind of camera and lenses do you use?

I use a Nikon D50. It’s pretty old and I purchased it years ago, but it works like a champ!

edit: I upgraded to a Nikon D90! and I still use the D50 as well.

Lenses:
two 18-55mm kit lenses
50mm f 1.8 lens
35mm f 1.8 lens
70-300mm VR lens

What photo editing software do you use? How do you edit your photos?

Adobe Photoshop CS5.

I edit mostly in ACR and Adobe Bridge. Then I save the image as a JPEG and I’m done. Sometimes if I’m not satisfied I’ll mess with Curves, but thats about it.

Who takes your pictures?

If I am not in the photos, I most likely took them. In my outfit photos I use my tripod and remote control, but if I am in a rush or just feeling lazy, they are taken by Jimmy or my friends. It just depends on the day and who is there.

JIMMY AND I

How did you and Jimmy meet and start dating?

We met through our church, but really started talking when we went on a missions trip with our church to Jamaica. After that, we remained good friends and were youth mentors for jr. highers/high schoolers, and we led worship together. He left for a 6 month trip to Australia with the organization YWAM and we were emailing back and forth while he was away, but I thought nothing of it. Shortly before he came home, I noticed he started making even more of an effort to get to know me. When he returned, he awkwardly called me and asked me to the movies. We took things slow and stayed best friends for 6 months before dating, but knew pretty early on that we wanted to be together. And well, I’m sure you all know how that ends…

How was your first date?

We saw No Country For Old Men and I laughed at him while he got startled at the jumpy parts of the movie. After the movie, he asked if I felt like getting a bite to eat and we walked to the Subway a few stores down and stayed there talking until they told us they were closing. After that, we walked to the car and stood by it talking, and kept talking, and talking for hours. I’m pretty sure I got home reeeally late that night. After the date, I walked into my house with butterflies in my stomach and leaned against the front door sighing like a scene from a movie, so yeah…I’d say the date was pretty legit.

How long has your husband been in the AF? And do you like Alaska?

Jimmy started BMT in November of 2010. We just arrived to Alaska at the end of June and love it so far. Before we came, we heard nothing but good things about it from higher ranking Sgts, some even said they’ve been trying to get stationed here for years. Then we met some people when we got here and a handful have said that they can’t wait to leave this place. Honestly, it seems like this is a “what you make it” type of place. Hit or miss, either you love it or you’re miserable, you know? Jimmy and I happen to love snow, cold weather, and doing outdoorsy stuff so we’re fitting in quite well so far.

MAKEUP, BEAUTY, FASHION, HAIR, ECT.

What’s your makeup routine? & which makeup products do you use?

I know almost nothing about makeup, and I only use drug store products so it’s nothing special, but here goes!

Face: Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder (I use a big kabuki brush all over my face, and a small brush for covering zits)

Cheeks: Covergirl Cheekers blush in pretty peach (One swipe on the apples of my cheeks)

Eyes: Covergirl Perfect Point Plus eyeliner in black onyx (I only put it on my lower lashes, right outside the lashline, NOT ON the lashline. I hear it makes your eyes look bigger?) And for mascara I use Mabeline Volume Express The Falsies in blackest black. (two coats)

I splurged and bought a eyeshadow palette from Sephora that I sometimes use, with shades of brown. But I usually only use that for special occasions.

What is your hair routine?

I usually wash my hair at night and sleep on it. My hair is naturally very thick and wavy, so it takes a few days for it to get oily. When I wake up and get ready, I just sort of tousle my hair around to get it how I want it to look, and curl some frizzy strands. Thats it, pretty much. I don’t use products in my hair because it
makes my hair look dirtier faster, and I like to try to get away with not washing my hair as long as I can

Where do you shop?

Forever21, H&M, or thrift stores. Honestly, that’s pretty much it. Occasionally I’ll splurge on a pair of Steve Madden shoes, but it’s been a while since I’ve even done that.

How tall are you? You look really tall in your pictures!

I am definitely NOT tall, I stand at 5′1
