Midi and Maxi

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Well I’m a bit frustrated with myself for taking yet again another hiatus. However, I am not sorry for my reasoning because I’m back in Virginia visiting my husband! I’ve been here since last weekend and I’m loving it. Of course, tons of photos will be coming your way soon along with the usual updates, but for now I’ll leave you with an outfit I wore a week or two ago before I left.

I only stand at 5′1 so when I started seeing more midi and maxi length skirts and dresses, I was convinced that I was too short to pull them off. Then I got over it, and bought a few anyway and I LOVE them! I got a little excited with the twirling because I feel like it’s something you should do if you’re wearing a fun and flowy skirt, no?

A tad bit obsessed with twirling.

I noticed my adorable niece staring out the window at me longingly from inside the house. So I smiled and waved, and kept twirling for photos. Each time I twirled, she would break out in laughter.

So my mother-in-law took her outside, and she came out to play and twirl with me! Plus, saying no to that face is way too hard.

everything is head to toe thrifted, except for the headband from Claire’s, and the shoes from Target.

I hope everyone is having a lovely week so far. I’ll be in Virginia until the end of this weekend since we decided to extend my stay here a bit longer :)

chill.

This is what I like to call my “chill” outfit. When I’m lazy (which is most of the time) I usually wear different variations of this outfit. Sometimes without a cardigan, and just a plain solid colored tee. And most of the time, I never dress weather appropriate. The other day I went to Walmart in a long sleeve, jeans, and those boots in 80 degree weather. I wear those boots way too often and it’s probably because they’re the easiest shoes I have to slip right on. I’m half ashamed to admit this, you know. This week has just been me at my laziest!

I did my hair in a low, side topsy-tail style and I kinda like how it came out! I like doing my hair this way instead of just a side pony cause it adds a little something extra.

I loved all your sweet comments on my anniversary/wedding posts, you’re all wonderful :)

Anyway, as you can guess, my husband is still not home. I’m doing okay, though. Really! I don’t want to jinx it but it’s looking like this week he could possibly get orders to come home? We’ll see. We take it one day at a time and on most days we get no news whatsoever, but Skype is so good to us and we have ours on and are skyping for most of the day, even when we’re doing our own thing or sleeping through the night. And that is whats making this whole situation so much easier. Just last night I put on Beauty and The Beast while he was passed out, and I loved being able to just click a button and see him sleeping. It’s the next best thing to actually being with him in person, so I’ll take what I can get :)

Not much else to share other than that! But hopefully I’ll have something new to share soon. Have a nice day, friends!

the outfit that was a present.

When Jimmy was gone for Christmas at basic training last year, I knew I wouldn’t be getting a gift from him. It wasn’t a big deal or anything, but one day I had just got off work and was feeling extra lonely and came up with a bright idea. A mini shopping spree that can be guilt-free if it’s Jimmy’s Christmas present to me! So I went ahead and bought that dress and the wedges. Shopping of course doesn’t make all your problems go away, but I’m not gonna lie…it can cheer me up temporarily. I took those pictures shortly after (yes, another old outfit post) and made sure to wear his wedding ring on my neck. Printed out my favorite pic, sent it to Jimmy and wrote, “Thanks for the dress and shoes!”

everything is from Forever 21!

I feel like I can type a huge essay about whats been going on, but I don’t want to focus on the negativity of mine and Jimmy’s situation. I will fill you in, though. A couple posts back I mentioned the possibility of him coming home late. Well, it’s March 27th and he’s still not home. He graduated tech school on the 21st and bought a plane ticket to come home on the 22nd, but it seems as though when you’re in the Air Force and you’re married, things get a little bit more complicated. I’ll try to spare the boring and technical details, but basically, Jimmy was told at the last minute that I, his wife, needed to be medically cleared in order for us to travel to AK and that they would hold him there until they got the forms proving that I’m healthy enough to travel.

So, I panicked, stressed, and did everything in my power to get it done fast, but with things like this there’s appointments, processing, and it’s not something you can get done in just a week. Sadly, as hard as I tried, he’s still stuck there. We’re doing okay, though. I already had my breakdowns and cry fests so I think I’ll be ok for the next few days, hah. The past few days have been better for us and after quite a few great talks we both know now that God has him delayed there for a reason and although it SUCKS and we’d rather be together, it’s not forever. He will be coming home, and God is still good. There is no reason for us to waste time being angry and complaining.

I went to my hometown to handle all my appointments since it’s closer to be here. Staying with my best friend has been awesome, I’m so thankful for her and her family for opening up their home to me. It’s been a breath of fresh air seeing my girl friends. They have helped me relax and take my mind off of the stress and other stuff that’s been going on.

I’m still here and my appointments are done, so now I am waiting on phone calls and results. I’m pretty excited that I’m done with my shots and dental stuff, but now it’s just a waiting game that will hopefully be over soon so I can be reunited with my handsome husband. I’m missing him something fierce and I can’t wait until all this is over so we can be together and get ready to move to AK (or not, depending on if I’m healthy enough…scary!) Hopefully my next post will be about Jimmy being home and how lovely that is, but to be honest…I might not be on the internet much when he’s back. After months of not living together, I think we deserve a little alone time :)

Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers! Please don’t stop since this process isn’t quite over yet!

March happenings.

I am currently blogging in my new room. Nope, not in Alaska! I switched different rooms in the house and my sis-in-law Jacky took over mine, so I moved just next door…but it’s bigger, so yay! I’m not a very big fan of rearranging furniture and remodeling rooms and my husband LOVES it, so we’ll see how he likes it when he comes home. Chances are, he’ll probably want to make a few changes. Until he’s home (around 3 weeks!!!) I’ll just enjoy it the way it is. I’m actually quite proud of the way I set it up. Maybe I’ll take some pictures.

It’s looking like for a little while I’ll be posting mostly “What I wore” photos. Mostly because I don’t really have any other pictures to post. You would think that with this new camera I would be going out and taking photos left and right. Well, I have…but only of my outfits. I haven’t really gone anywhere special lately. But things are going to start getting busier at the end of this week when I go on yet another road trip back up North. I’m going with the family to a Matthew West concert! After that, I decided to spend time in my hometown with my newly engaged best friend Ashley and my other bestie Taryne to help with some wedding plans. Then before I know it, my handsome man will be home!

As most of you remember, I went to Texas to see him for his graduation weekend and what an amazing weekend it was. But, he had curfews and had to be back at the base at 6-8pm every night so I made sure to cherish it, but it didn’t quite feel like we were reunited fully. When he comes home, it’ll be the first time we can be together and I won’t have to see him off at the end of the day. It’s been almost 5 months that we haven’t been living together. Can you believe that? I’m gonna have to give myself a big pat on the back for that. And him too, of course! Words cannot express how excited I am for us to reunite and to not have to count down until we have to say goodbye again. (Until deployment rears it’s ugly head) I miss him SO much.

So other than an outfit post, I’m writing this post to announce that I’ll soon be starting a blogger of the month series! I’m so excited about this and although my blog is small and personal and I sometimes struggle with putting myself out there, I’m looking forward to getting in touch with some of you and other bloggers and hopefully some ladies will participate! I would also like to get into guest posting too eventually, but for now I’ll start with interviewing bloggers. My first thought was to try focusing on ladies who will be willing to answer questions about young marriages…their own marriage, their opinion on marrying young, and so forth. BUT, I also follow a few mommy blogs so I’d like to go in that direction. And it’s pretty obvious that I like clothes, so I’ll be getting in touch with fashion bloggers as well. I decided to just keep it broad. I figured it would be fun to interview about different topics that more of you can relate to! A dear friend of mine, who happens to be one of my favorite bloggers is willing to be interviewed so my first blogger of the month post is already on it’s way! So excited, guys! If any of you are interested, let me know and I would love to talk interviewing you!
