Old outfits and weather changes.

As the title of this post states, these photos are a bit old. But I figured I’d post them anyway. It’s weird to look at them because I can notice how much the scenery has changed since then. The trees are no longer that vibrant green and are pretty much bare, and most of the leaves that have fallen on the ground are dead. And I’ll state the obvious…it’s flippin’ cold! Yes, I am a wuss, but seriously…the first snow fall is due any day now. While most of you are welcoming Fall, we are preparing for an early Winter!

Having Jimmy take my photos has been loads of fun for me cause I get to sneak in some mushy pics. But nonetheless, I got a Gorilla Pod to hold me over until my tripod gets here with our stuff. It’s for me to use on those days when my begging and puppy dog eyes won’t work :)

That 70’s…outfit?

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

MY, does it feel good to have an outfit to share!! This is my first time owning a pair of flares. A good friend and I went shopping and she picked them out for me and insisted I try them on. I was hesitant at first because I never thought I could pull it off, but once I slipped them on, pretty sure I was sold. They give me curves where I don’t have any, which is something I love because lets face it…that doesn’t happen often. I got the inspiration of this outfit from an episode of That 70’s Show, if you haven’t already guessed. I was getting ready to go out to dinner with the husband when I glanced over at the TV and saw the always beautiful Mila Kunis rocking flares and a flannel button-down with her bangs pulled back. And wedges! Seeing as how I have all those things, I decided to try it out for myself and I felt pretty dang hot. Maybe not Mila Kunis hot because she does set the bar very high, but good enough to get checked out by Jimmy and that’s more than sufficient for me :)

a ‘kiind of’ outfit post.

So there has definitely been a lack of outfit posts around these parts for two reasons. One: My beloved tripod is still back at my in-laws with the rest of our household goods that are waiting to be sent to our new home. We’ve been in Alaska for two months and our stuff still isn’t here yet, and let me tell you…veeery frustrating. Anyway, I usually prefer to use the tripod and handle taking outfit photos that way, but I gotta admit, having Jimmy take photos for me has been pretty fun! I’ll most likely be trying to get him to do it more often, I just have to get him to agree…or bribe him with Oreo truffles…

Secondly, lack of clothes! For the same reason, it’s all back in California. While packing to move here, I only took the clothes I felt I would need and now that we’re settled in and waiting for the rest of our stuff, it definitely seems like I didn’t take much. But it’s allowed me to be creative and for some reason, it’s not really as hard as I thought it would be. I have a new love for mixing outfits, that’s for sure! Maybe if I’m feeling confident enough, I’ll be showing some off…

I apologize for my absence but once I get back into the swing of things I’ll return with some fun stuff to share! Things have been a teensy bit busy in the Hammer household.

Jump For Joy

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

I’m not really jumping for Joy. Well a little, but I figured I’d squeeze in one last outfit post before we move because I don’t know when I’ll get to post another one. It shouldn’t be too long, but we do have to get settled in and adjust and in the meantime I’ll be on the hunt for some beautiful photo taking spots, which from what I hear won’t be too hard at all.

Jumping photos are probably one of my favorite kinds of photos to take. My husband is convinced that he gets better air than me when he jumps in photos, but I think he’s wrong. Maybe I’ll drag him with me sometime and take some, and you all can be the judge of that…

Wow, I can’t believe we’re leaving in just a couple days. This time at home has flown by so much! Pretty much all day yesterday was spent packing and organizing our things, and we still have a bit more to go. Today we’re going to a friend of the familys 1 year olds birthday party, and then stopping by to see our cousins who are in the Navy and catch up with them before we go. There’s still so many people we’d like to see before we move and have proper goodbyes with, but we are so strapped for time that it’s looking harder and harder. Who knew 10 days would be too short? I sure didn’t. But we are both so excited to begin our new life in Alaska and get to know the area and people. The butterflies, excitement, and anticipation is already coming! Can’t wait!
