I am just THAT bad at being up to date on outfit photos. These photos were taken at around…22/23 weeks, I believe? And I’ll be 27 weeks this Sunday! Needless to say, the bump has indeed popped out…here is proof:

I’ve been pretty on top of my bump update photos, but it has made me a little sad to slack so much in the outfit department. I just never seem to have the time anymore. But for good reason, I promise. We are a procrastinating family and are just getting started this week on clearing out the nursery (it was our “storage” room before) and will be buying things very soon. We’ve got a generous amount of clothes, but that’s pretty much it. My nesting urges have kicked in, but I’m not exactly in freak-out mode yet. But it’s coming…yes, I can feel it. From what my automatic pregnancy updates say, baby is now shifting into head down position and opening his eyes. Two milestones in the pregnancy department that I’m pretty excited about! I have another ultrasound on Thursday that I’m slightly nervous and excited for…mostly excited though. I love seeing my little boy.

Do you ever feel like your bump is an illusion in pictures? If you look at those last two photos, they were taken on the same day, except I look significantly larger in the second one. And to be honest, I can’t decide which one is more accurate to how I look in person. Maybe I need to work on perfecting accurate pregnancy angles?

Today I feel very scatterbrained and all over the place so I’m going to drink some tea, get some work done around the house and on the computer, and call it a day. Happy Tuesday!

This past week has been somewhat of an emotional roller coaster. I’ve dealt with worry and anxiety over the baby’s health, have gone into crying fits over my changing body and the fact that I’m not even in the third trimester and there is still a ways to go, and some days I just plain struggle with insecurity and feelings of inadequacy as a soon to be mother. Second trimester has indeed been good to me, physically. But my emotions have gone haywire and I’ve had some pretty irrational thoughts. But then…

I get slapped with a reality check. A big one.

I was created in His image. God blessed me to carry this tiny little boy. He gave me life, is giving my son life, and is letting me carry and nuture him for the next few months. He gave me a husband who is an excellent encourager, lifts me up and lets me know how beautiful he finds my pregnant self, without me having to ask. These are the little reminders He sends me when I whine unnecessarily, look in the mirror and dislike what I see, when I think of worst case scenarios with the babe’s health, and mostly, when I try to be in control of it all.

I will struggle with these feelings all over again and tell myself some more lies, I’m sure. But today my heart is full knowing that my loving God is in control and asks me to cast all those worries on Him. So if you will excuse me, I am off to bask in some more sleepy husband and doggie cuddles and baby kicks.

Well I suppose it’s not looking TOO far back, but this outfit is about three weeks old. This is actually what I wore to find out the babe’s gender. I was 19 weeks in this photo, and am now 22 weeks. I feel like there is a huge difference in the size of my belly now, as well. Don’t think so? See my last post! Baby boy is now kicking up a storm and it’s at the point where it wakes me up, or prevents me from falling asleep. But it’s hard to complain about that since Jimmy arrived home this week and got to feel those kicks for the first time a few days ago

This is also the last outfit post you will see in snow, it’s currently break-up season here in Anchorage and there is slippery ice on the ground which is unsafe for a preggo such as myself to be standing around taking photos in my driveway, and the snow that was once white is now brown and needless to say…it ain’t too pretty. So I’ll be moving my What I’m Wearing posts indoors for now until it’s a little nicer looking outside!

I am happy to say that other than a few maxi skirts and basic tee’s, I haven’t bought many new items of clothing to fit the bump. I’m still pretty small, but I’d like to avoid spending the extra money on maternity clothes for as long as I can and if I get to a point where nothing fits…well, I’ll figure something out. I’d love to get away with never having to wear sweats in public. (I do that enough around the house as it is ) Maybe I sound a bit unrealistic and probably even naive, but I am instead trying to use this time to soak up how much I am loving carrying this baby and finding any excuse to dress up. I know I won’t feel this way when I’m due (OR overdue), but hey…second trimester is treating me quite well so far, so I’m gonna milk this out as much as I can!

I’ve been itching SO badly for the snow to melt here and by doing so I’ve been eyeing my pastel colored items of clothing and trying my hardest to not let the snow bum me out, so I went ahead and started attempting to winterize all of those clothes. It’s going okay so far, but the neutral colors in my closet heavily outweigh the colorful ones. But I won’t go shopping, I won’t! So I’ll make-do with what I’ve got….

Today I am officially 19 weeks, and we are finding out the babe’s gender in less than 48 hours! I’ve been talking about it so much, but really, I can hardly contain my excitement. So the next time you see a post from me, it’ll be sharing some exciting news!

First outfit post as a pregnant lady woo hoo! Well technically thats not true because I was 9 weeks pregnant in my last outfit post, but none of you knew that

The snow here is intense. You see the pile of snow behind me? It’s now twice the size of that and is taller than both me and Jimmy. You’ll see the next time I post an outfit. In fact, the trees might not even be in the pictures anymore. Good ol’ Alaska for ya!

Anyway, the inspiration for this outfit came from this picture floating around Pinterest with the exception of a few things added. The shirt didn’t fit quite as nicely on me which made me not like this outfit as much as I thought I would. But now that I’ve got a tiny little bump I’m excited to wear more form fitting clothes to show it off! So no more baggy shirts from this point on

Husband and I are both at home with colds today, so we’re taking it easy. Happy Sunday!

Happy Day Before Christmas Eve Eve! Hope everyone is having a lovely time with your families. Jimmy and I are currently in California (we surprised his family, other than his mom who flew down us to surprise everyone else) and are having the time of our lives. For that, I’m making this post short and sweet and posting an outfit that I took a few days before we left. These were taken in our front yard just outside the door. Obviously we are very on top of shoveling our driveways and walkways…hah.

Merry Christmas!

It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL outside. But it’s also freezing. In the negatives, to be exact. I don’t know how we do it to be honest..how we live here. Haha. It’s sort of funny how when it reaches up to 20 degrees we get excited about it. But I will gladly take that over -7! Anyway, enough about the weather. The snow is so high (past my knees) that I haven’t been motivated to take any outfit photos lately, so here I will leave you with the last one I took before the snow came. It’s also been hard to wear anything other than jeggings/leggings or jeans, but I’m comitted to not letting the weather bring me to the point where I don’t feel like getting dressed up! So here’s to toughing it out and braving the snow. I’ve been doing it every weekend for photographing my clients…why should this be any harder?

In other unrelated news, today it has officially been a year since Jimmy joined the Air Force. I can’t believe how fast time has flown by! One year ago today I was saying goodbye to him and seeing him off to BMT. Crazy. But good crazy. There have been some frustrating times for sure, but I wouldn’t trade our life for anything and I’m thankful to the Air Force for putting a roof over our head, medical insurance, and so much more! And I’m also thankful for my husband, of course. Words can’t express how proud I am of my handsome man and how grateful I am for his service! He is an amazing Airman and I can tell he is going to do great things and go very far in his career

You know, now that I’ve gotten busier with Jen Hammer Photography (and don’t get me wrong, I am loving it!) I haven’t made the time to take many outfit photos, or photos of my family, so as busy as I get, I’m trying my hardest to keep up and still take the time to keep documenting my life in photos, for me. I really miss taking outfit photos and right before we welcomed snow, I took a couple. Here is the first. The rest of our household goods came and with them came my chucks. And oh, how I have missed my chucks. For a small period of time I’ve been going through this phase of wearing Jimmy’s plaid tee’s. This one I picked out for him at the thrift store on base. I’m pretty sure I wear it more than him, though. And I can’t help but be on a flare kick…still. The jeans were also picked up at the thrift shop and are AE brand! Love them. I know this outfit is similar to the last, but I couldn’t help myself. I am sort of really into plaid at the moment. Anyway, it’s good to be back!

October 30th marked the first official day of snow here in Alaska, and although some of you probably already have snow, and some of you also may be laughing as well, I’m super excited. But what do you expect from someone who’s been born and raised in Southern California? So yes…for now, I will celebrate and have lots of snow fights with Jimmy and Layla! Maybe I’ll grow tired of it, maybe I won’t. It’s taken me a while to get used to the weather changes as it is, and I’m still getting there…but we’re loving it! As you can see here, Layla and I played around outside while Jimmy was shoveled our driveway, a daily task we are required to do since we live on an Air Force base. I’m looking out the window and I’m seeing our driveway that has yet to be shoveled today…along with our walkway and sidewalk. The snow looks beautiful falling right now, but I definitely do NOT feel like going outside and shoveling at the moment…nope not one bit

Happy Snow Day!

As the title of this post states, these photos are a bit old. But I figured I’d post them anyway. It’s weird to look at them because I can notice how much the scenery has changed since then. The trees are no longer that vibrant green and are pretty much bare, and most of the leaves that have fallen on the ground are dead. And I’ll state the obvious…it’s flippin’ cold! Yes, I am a wuss, but seriously…the first snow fall is due any day now. While most of you are welcoming Fall, we are preparing for an early Winter!

Having Jimmy take my photos has been loads of fun for me cause I get to sneak in some mushy pics. But nonetheless, I got a Gorilla Pod to hold me over until my tripod gets here with our stuff. It’s for me to use on those days when my begging and puppy dog eyes won’t work
