i chopped my hair off!

before:

and after!

here are some more:

^ new sunnies.

so what happened was, i won a free hair makeover through a raffle that was going on for all the employees of the mall i work at. i signed up for the raffle not knowing was it was for, only to get a call a few days later from the regis salon telling me that i won! i felt guilty because when i first found out, i didn’t even want to cut my hair or do anything to it. but i realized later that i’ve basically had long hair for a very long time now and i sort of felt like it was a comfort and security thing. i wanted to cut it off to prove that i can feel beautiful with short hair too. so i told them to cut it off, and i love it! my inspiration was ashley olsen and the lovely alexa chung,

i’m sure there will be times when i’ll miss my longer hair, but i’m loving this haircut so far and besides, my hair grows pretty fast anyway.

Anna Selezneva & Wes Bentley for Harper’s Bazaar US-March 2010

I usually gravitate towards shoots that tell a story anyway, but this one was special to me and gave me feelings of nostalgia. My grandpa used to ALWAYS have Bonnie and Clyde (Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty) on when I was over and I remember being so fascinated with it when I was a little girl. And when I look at this editorial it brings me back, but also makes me realize how inspiring it is-fashion wise. I definitely wouldn’t mind having more pencil skirts, silk scarves, and trousers. I already have a small collection of berets, but don’t wear them out too often. Maybe sometime soon I’ll try to rock one, Bonnie style.

I was browsing the archives of Teen Vogue the other day and fell in love with their spreads all over again. I used to be an avid Teen Vogue reader a few years ago, but let’s just say it’s been awhile since i last picked one of their magazines up. My love has rekindled. Here are some of my favorite looks.

November 2009

Loved this grungy, early nineties look. The early nineties are one of my favorite decades of fashion. I’m taken back to my childhood with Clueless, florals, thermals, flannels, lace-up doc martens, and crop tops. Love it!

street style looks

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

street style blogs are my favorite thing to look at on the internet (next to personal style bloggers) so here are some looks i’ve found pretty inspiring lately.

i’ve never been too big a fan of patent leather shoes, but i love how she makes them work here. i’m also loving the contrast of her floral dress, they give the outfit a pop of color to the neutral shades she’s wearing.

that dress alone is all kinds of wonderful but i can’t get enough of the lace peeking out underneath it! also, i believe that patterned tights can be a hard thing to pull off. if not done right, it can make an outfit look too busy. but this girl pulled it off perfectly by keeping everything else simple.

i’ve found that tights + denim shorts are a hit or miss for most people but i fully support it, and now even more so after seeing the way model Frida Gustavsson rocks it. and she threw in over the knee socks too! all the while looking insanely classy. this girl is already stunning, but these outfits definitely inspired me to keep my cut off shorts out all year-round.
