Making A Home

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

Here are some updated photos of our humble abode. It’s been a long (almost) 4 months without our household goods that still have yet to come, and we made a few much needed large purchases for our new home, but other than that, most of the decor and small things you see around the house were either thrifted, handed down to us by our pretty amazing friends here, or less than $20. And thanks to Pinterest, I’ve been finding my inner crafty side that I never really knew existed. To say that I’m excited about our home coming together would be an understatement. Of course, home is wherever my husband is…but it’s nice to make the home we live in comfortable for the both of us, and at an affordable price :)

More paper flowers…I can’t get enough of them!

And I also have some news to share…I’m sure some of you have noticed that I’ve began posting my work here as well as my personal photos. Well, I just launched my Facebook Photography page! So if you’re a fan of my photos, feel free to “like” away!

Sleeping nooks and bunnies.

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

So I haven’t done an inspiration post like this in what feels like forever! But over the last few months I’ve been finding myself collecting pictures of home decor that I loved and a few days ago I looked through my folder and realized that I had a lot of similar photos..of sleeping and reading nooks. For some reason, they just stand out to me and make me so happy. Here are some of my favorite images:

If I could have one, I’d have it by a big window with a beautiful view, some comfy cushions and pillows when I feel like napping, and a shelf on one of the walls with a few of my favorite books to pick up and read whenever I please. Although I wouldn’t mind the walls being covered in books and having my own little library nook like in the 3rd to last picture. An excuse to buy more books! Getting cozy with my blanket, a good book and a cup of hot cocoa in a sleeping nook sounds so nice right now! One can only wish…

And here are some photos I took of the bunnies in our backyard. There are about 5 bunnies that are almost always guaranteed to be in the backyard if we look out the window. They’re the cutest things ever, and some of them are SO tiny! I didn’t get any pictures of the itty bitty bunnies, but here is one that agreed to pose for me and he is quite small. Well, maybe he didn’t pose. I took these with my 70-300mm lens so I was a good distance away :)

Then a bird came over to say hello. I’m guessing they were friends of some sort, because the bird inched his way closer and closer and the bunny didn’t seem to mind it.

I know, my life is SO interesting. Haha. Anyway, as for me…these past few days have been quite stressful. My husband and I had a scare with the possibility of him not being able to come home on time unless some medical papers and records were cleared so we can move. These past few days have been spent making countless phone calls, waiting for hours on end getting transferred back and forth and tossed around, some tears, some frustration, ect. I am the type of person to get stressed and overwhelmed easily and sometimes it’s hard for me to be calm, but Jimmy is the opposite and is normally a calm and collected person, but even these past few days have been hard for him as well. Things have cooled down though, and him and I are praying and keeping our fingers crossed that he can come home next week as planned and not have to be delayed any longer. Wish us luck!

nail polishes!

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

These nail polishes were $1 each at the farmer’s market in Redlands. A good deal, if I do say so myself. I got them last Thursday and I’m so excited about them. So excited, in fact, that I actually had a dream someone was trying to steal my new nail polish collection from me. This is no lie. All in all I have a total of about 10 nail polish colors. But I want more, of course! It’s an addiction. It’s more of a new addiction for me, my sisters got me into it. I’m a huge fan of OPI nail polish and have 4 of my own (two of them donated to me from Jax. Thanks Jax!) but I’m not so much a fan of the price. But at least I know where to go when I want super affordable (and good quality from what I can tell so far) nail polishes!

I’ve done a test run on all the colors but I still currently have the baby blue on. No chipping so far! that baby blue, the lavender and the teal color all go on really nicely and don’t need a second or third coat. The peach however, goes on a little sheer and will probably need more coats.

Anyway things have been pretty good! Jacky and BJ came for a visit for a few days and we enjoyed having them around again. They’ll be back in August for two days and then flying back to Australia. Bj’s parents also came and visited and we all had a wonderful dinner party. It was really nice to meet his family! I’ve heard so many good things about them and they are all definitely true. I took lots of pictures from this past week with them here so I’ll be posting them by the end of the week.

Jimmy and I are still patiently waiting for a phone call from his recruiter for a date to leave for basic training. We were told to anticipate him leaving in August so it could be any time now. So anxious to hear back! He’s officially sworn in though, so it’s only a matter of when now, which is such a relief. Jimmy has been wanting this for so long and I’m so proud of him! I’ll be posting updates on that as we hear more.

I just finished answering questions for my first blog interview! I really enjoyed it and although the questions are answered and ready, I won’t post it until it’s posted on her blog so keep an eye out for that! :)

I will leave you all with my new favorite and most recent picture of Jimmy and I. We took my best friend Taryne to Disneyland for her birthday!

Until next time!

sickly and inspired.

this is how i looked for half of this week:

no makeup, sicky sick sick. thankfully by the time i had to work i was feeling better (albeit running to the bathroom every 5 minutes to blow my nose). while i’m finally feeling better, my poor husband caught it so now it’s my turn to take care of him! while he’s laying in bed i figured i’d make a quick post about what i’ve been obsessing over lately….

mommies with style!
ok so i’m not a mommy just yet, but that doesn’t mean i can’t take mental notes of how i’d love to dress, whether it’s people watching or celeb mommies!
so far i’ve been the most inspired by jessica alba’s style. she’s modest and classy, and always adds a cute little twist to her outfits. LOVE IT. here are some of my favorite outfits she’s worn with her little one who not surprisingly, is just as stylish.

thats all for now! it’s definitely not my bed time but maybe i’ll try to go to bed at a reasonable hour tonight ;)
